Fashion Design & Creation Program (Ages 8–16)

✨ Could your child be on the runway at the 2025 Tasmanian Fashion Festival?

From first sketch to final stitch — our Kids' Fashion Design Course gives young creatives aged 8–17 everything they need to design and make their very own fashion collection, then showcase it on a real runway. 🎨👗

Guided by experienced fashion designers right here in North Hobart, students build real skills in fashion design and garment construction over 15 weeks of fortnightly classes — and walk away with confidence, creativity, and a one-of-a-kind piece they made themselves.

🗓️ Start Date: 28 February 2026 📅 Duration: 15 weeks (fortnightly classes)

👗 Beginner Class — spots available!

• Morning: 10:00am – 12:30pm
• Afternoon: 2:00pm – 4:30pm

🔒 Intermediate Class — fully booked

💰 Investment:

• $60 per class
• $150 materials fee (covers your child's complete fashion outfit — no hidden costs!)
• $50 runway entry fee
• Weekly direct debit payments welcome 💛

What Kids Will Learn

Learn about designing for diversity, creating garments for a wide range of body types and personal styles.

Explore fashion illustration and pattern manipulation, bringing their original design ideas to life on paper and in fabric.

Learn a wide range of sewing techniques to confidently transform their fashion ideas into finished garments.

Experiment with fabric dyeing, painting, and embellishment to produce truly unique, expressive textiles.

Take part in excursions to local artists’ studios, where they’ll explore real-world textile and fabric art practices, including hands-on fabric dyeing and surface design techniques.

Participate in a sustainability-focused excursion, guided by a sustainability expert, to discover how fashion can be both beautiful and environmentally responsible.

Develop their confidence, creativity, and design identity while preparing for the Tasmanian Fashion Festival runway show. 

Engage in the model fitting day before the festival, where even though they won’t be modelling their own garments, they can make decisions on how their look is represented on the runway and gain first hand insight into the colourful chaos of backstage life at a real runway event.
