Designed for children aged 8 and up, this exciting textile arts course encourages children to discover their own unique visual language, increase their sewing and design skills, and create an original piece of textile art for exhibition.
🧵 What Your Child Will Learn
Led by our experienced and encouraging tutors, students will:
- Design and craft their own original textile art piece — whether that's a quilt, sculpture, or wearable art item
- Explore working in three dimensions using textiles
- Discover their unique creative voice
- Learn essential art processes through a curriculum designed to scaffold, inspire, and build confidence
- Be part of a warm and supportive creative community
From brainstorming bold ideas to mastering hands-on textile techniques, every step of the journey is guided and celebrated. 🖌️
🌟 A Very Special Opportunity
We're thrilled to be partnering with Rosny Farm to give students the chance to create their very own textile art piece for the Wild Stitch Studio Exhibition at Rosny Farm Schoolhouse Gallery in January 2027. This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to showcase their work during a 4 week exhibition, receive support throughout their creative journey, and connect with a community of fellow makers.
Here is our exhibition summary:
"Wild Stitchers is a youth-led textile art exhibition showcasing wearable artworks and textile-based creations from young participants (ages 10–16) involved in two Wild Stitch Studio programs: the Kids’ Fashion Runway Program and the Kids’ Textile Art Class. In this exhibition young artists (ages 8-18) have created AND co-curated wearable art, sculptures, and textile work made entirely from upcycled and sustainable materials donated by the Wild Stitch community.
Part of what makes Wild Stitchers extraordinary is that young people have collaborated with working artists to design the exhibition; co-curating the display, mood and text to find connections and construct a theme and narrative. But this isn't just about finished pieces. You'll also see their creative journey: sketchbooks, process materials, video documentation, and interactive elements revealing how our young artists think and make decisions."
